Choosing a moisturising cream for your feet

What is the best moisturiser to use on my feet?

Now that the warmer weather is here, many of us (including me!) are beginning to suffer with dry, cracked heels.  The most effective way to combat this issue is to use a moisturising cream regularly on your feet.

Selecting a moisturising cream is a very personal decision and therefore one cream is not going to suit all feet.

Some of us like a moisturiser that feels thick and greasy, while others prefer a light/dry sensation after applying the cream.

Scent is another important factor in selecting a cream.  A strong fragrance may turn some off using a cream – while others will absolutely LOVE the aroma of a strongly scented heel balm.

The thickness of your skin varies from location to location around your body – with the palms of your hands and the soles of the feet having the thickest skin of all.  Add in some callus and you’re going to need a super-moisturising cream to work its magic around your heels!

If you require a more effective cream for your heels, look for a specialty foot cream that contains “Urea” – just check the ingredient list on the bottle/tube.

Urea-based creams are a natural moisturiser PLUS they are “keratolytic” – meaning that they naturally exfoliate the skin – making them absolutely perfect for dry cracked heels!

Walker’s Urea-15 is available through Blackwood Podiatry - simply pop past our clinic and pick up a bottle.
